The surrounding area of Clerkenwell has seen many changes in the last decade. It is now an area of restaurants and bars, but still with a strong local community, particularly including Italian migrants.

Apart from the postal service, one of the traditional industries of Clerkenwell was watch and clock making. Now, it is most frequently visited by family historians who research their forebears at The Royal Mail Archive, London Metropolitan Archives, the Family Records Centre and the Society of Genealogists.

Mount Pleasant continues to be a major feature of this part of the London landscape, and the BPMA is pleased to call it home.

Mount Pleasant Community Project

In spring 2007, a group of postal workers captured working life at 'The Mount' on film. They photographed colleagues at work and rest, the vans and machines, and the building itself. Take a look at their new pictures of the Mount.
