We are delighted to announce that we have recently been successful in bidding for four new streams of funding. This article tells you more about each stream.

Reassessing Contemporary Collecting Partnership

The BPMA has recently been awarded funding for a contemporary collecting partnership. This is part of the Reassessing What We Collect Project based at the Museum of London and funded by the London Museums Hub.

The project will involve working with other museums in London. Together we will collect material which reflects the experience of newly and recently arrived culturally diverse people belonging to community groups, associations or similar organisations in London. We hope to develop sustainable partnerships with them as a result.

The BPMA plans to use this opportunity and the £5,000 grant to work with diverse groups within Royal Mail staff in Mount Pleasant Mail Centre. We will collect contemporary objects, photos and oral testimonies representing their working lives today and their experiences of migrating to London.

MLA funding

We have been lucky enough to obtain two grants from the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council’s Cultural Olympiad ‘Setting the Pace’ programme. This will enable us to contribute activities to the events around the country taking place to coincide with the launch of the Cultural Olympiad, the weekend of 26-28 September 2008.

We also received funding for our 2008 participation in the Young Cultural Creators scheme. We are delighted that our funding bids have been successful.
