BPMA Oral History Training Day

On 12 February 2008, the Curatorial Team held an internal oral history training day at the London Canal Museum.
This provided an opportunity for the team to discuss current activities and developments within the oral history community. They also
Recordings can prove extremely useful where the logistics in collecting three dimensional objects prove insurmountable. Personal recollection is increasingly being recognised as of immense value for research, education and interpretation.
- practised recording and interview techniques
- reviewed current holdings and
- discussed future emphasis for gathering material that will assist in interpreting and preserving postal activities in the UK.
The Curatorial Team have developed a flexible wish-list that they would like to work on. This covers subjects as diverse as Travelling Post Offices, the Investigation Department, transport by air and the Post Office in the community. These subject areas will be proactively visited over the coming year together with the small number of one-offs that also take place on occasion.
