Hear it for yourself - New ReadSpeaker system on BPMA website
Hear this page read aloud
The BPMA is committed to improving the accessibility of our services for everyone. We have been working on making our website as accessible as possible, and we have taken a big step forward this week.
We have installed the ReadSpeaker text-to-speech system across our website. You can listen to an audio file of almost any page on our site, and you don't need to install any new software. It's that simple! You'll see the audio controls in the top right of a page. You can even download a copy of the audio file for each page and listen to our website offline.
Our web development company, Adaptive Technologies Limited, have taken the basic ReadSpeaker system and made it even better. We think this is probably the most user-friendly version of ReadSpeaker in use today.
But it is a new technology for us, so we are learning to use it as well. Some pages are still waiting to be upgraded, but this will happen over the next few days. There are limits: the online catalogue is run by a different system and unfortunately it is too complex to have ReadSpeaker installed.
If you spot pronunciation errors or have any comments about ReadSpeaker on the BPMA website, please send us your feedback.
