"Very useful indeed", "All very informative, well timed"
This was just some of the feedback received on 21 January 2008 about the day led by Martin Bazley and Jon Pratty.
Format of the training day
Between 9.30 and 10.00 on 21 January, the delegates were greeted with tea, coffee and pastries. 19 external museum and archive professionals, and 11 BPMA staff attended the event.
BPMA Web Officer, Rhiannon Looseley, introduced the day with a brief talk about the BPMA and its website and then handed over to the two trainers for the day:
- Martin Bazley, of the the E-Learning Group for Museums and ICT4Learning
- Jon Pratty, Editor, 24-Hour Museum
Between them, Martin and Jon talked about the following issues:
- Why do I need to learn to write for the web?
- Fundamental differences – web and print
- Access, audiences, internationalism
In the afternoon, delegates worked in groups to create a page of web content themselves. Martin and Jon then reviewed some examples for everyone to benefit from.
Feedback
Overall feedback from the day was very positive. The vast majority of attendees said that they had enjoyed the course a lot. Positive comments included:
- All very informative, well timed
- Well organised and busy
- Good having two people lead
- Very useful indeed
- Good atmosphere, and chance to learn from each other
- I feel more confident to write for the web
- We are about to start on our collection’s first website, so it was very helpful for me
