King George V
The reign of George V (1910-1936) spanned an era of conflict and change. The King found solace in stamp collecting, and he spoke of its contribution to his well-being later in life. During his reign he built up a collection of Empire stamps which is now world renowned.
The period saw the development of new communication methods and innovations in transportation, bringing the world much closer together.
