The BPMA houses some of Britain’s most iconic objects from red GPO pillar boxes and Royal Mail vans to Penny Black stamps. Our Designated status archive includes graphically arresting posters and artwork, advertising design, heritage photography and many unusual items such as our collection of Valentines Day cards.
We have an ongoing licensing programme covering image use and product development and are happy to explore opportunities with potential future partners.
Current licensing work
GPO
Film Unit project with the BFI
The BPMA is currently working in
partnership with the BFI, Royal Mail, and BT Archives to digitally re-master
and release a number of GPO archive films on DVD. This includes documentary
film classic Night Mail together with
forgotten gems including Len Lye’s A Colour Box, The King’s Stamp, The Fairy
of the Phone and many others. The first of what will be a three volume DVD
series will be available from September 2008 and will include some of the most
seminal films in British documentary film making.
Image
licensing with the Bridgeman Art Library

available for licensing through the Bridgeman Art Library
