Visiting The British Postal Museum & Archive - the basics

The Visit the Archive section has information on opening times, getting here, our facilities and more.

You do not need to make an appointment to see most of the archive material we hold (except for philatelic material). However, as with any archive, it is always a good idea to contact us before your visit to find out if we have records that could be useful to you.

Please remember to bring some identification on your first visit e.g. a driving license or passport, to get a BPMA user card.

Why not make your first visit one of our friendly introductory talks? Come with a friend and see behind the scenes at the archive. Dates for these events are all given in What's On.

Visiting the Museum Store

You can also visit us at the British Postal Museum Store, but usually only on our planned Open Days during the summer. To find out about Open Days, take a look at What's On.

Visiting Ironbridge

The BPMA and the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust have developed and built a Victorian Post Office and contemporary exhibition as part of the Blists Hill Victorian town site. Find out more about the project and how to get there.
