Mount Pleasant has a large number of sports and social clubs. Why not tell us about your club here? It can be a club that runs now, or a club that you used to be part of in the past.

Mount Pleasant Religious & Ethnic Associations
At present two-thirds of Mount Pleasant's workforce are non White British. The members of many religious and ethnic groups have set up their own Associations. For more information about some of these please view our online exhibition Mount Pleasant Religious Associations.
Hindu Association - Hindus working at Mount Pleasant have celebrated festivals such as Diwali for many years, but the Hindu Association and the Mandir (temple) were not established until 2001.
Sikh Association - The Sikh Association was established in 1986. It organizesorganises celebrations of festivals such as Guru Nanak's Birthday and Vaisakhi and makes material about Sikhism, such as publications, tapes, DVD's and CD's, available to its members. A prayer room is located on the 2nd floor of Mount Pleasant.
Muslim Association - A Muslim prayer room has existed at Mount Pleasant since 1975. The current Mosque can hold up to 200 people. The Muslim Association organizes activities for its members, including celebrations of Eid.
Other Associations - Other Associations at Mount Pleasant include the Ghanaian Association, Filipino Association, Nigerian Association, Jamaica Society and Christian Association. Can you tell us about them?

Mount Pleasant Sports and Social Club
Mount Pleasant Sports and Social Club was formed in 1946. The Post Office Magazine described it as '...momentous in the history of Mount Pleasant. The efforts of the Mount's various clubs are now coordinated to achieve the maximum support for each other: membership has already reached the four-figure mark.' The club still exists today, organising group holidays and weekend activities.

Mount Pleasant Cricket Team
